Under the visa-free regime with the European Union, Georgian nationals, biometric passport holders may travel to the EU/Schengen area for short visits without a visa. Visa-free travel does not apply to long-term visits, for example, for the purposes of higher education or employment. Short-term visits means 90 days within any 180-day period. Starting from 12 October 2025, a new Entry/Exit System (EES) will be introduced in the Schengen Area. This is a new digital border management system aimed at registering foreign nationals from non-EU countries who enter the Schengen Area for short stays. The system will collect biometric data (facial image and fingerprints) and register travelers in an unified, centralized database. This system will gradually replace the current practice of affixing entry and exit stamps in the passports. Schengen Area countries will implement the EES gradually at their external borders, and the system is expected to be fully operational by 10 April 2026. 🔗 For detailed information, please visit: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ees ⚠️Attention! Please note that the Entry/Exit System (EES) is not the same as the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). ETIAS is a separate system that provides electronic pre-travel authorization for travelers intending to visit Europe. Before traveling, please read carefully the rules of travel in EU/Schengen member countries!
